Tanzacat 2018 is on

Tanzacat 2018 will be held off the coast of Dar es Salaam Tanzania from 28 September to 6 October, hosted by the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club. This popular Bay Racing & Zanzibar Raid event will consist of four days of bay racing around the cans in and around Msasani Bay between mainland Tanzania and Bongoyo and Mduya Islands, and four days of open water offshore racing that includes a visit to the romantic spice island of Zanzibar and the historic Stonetown, with two crossings of the Zanzibar Channel. The event is an ideal one to bring the whole family and enjoy an East African vacation at the same time. Tanzania is famous for its wildlife reserves and national parks including Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Selous, Ruaha and many others, beautiful mountains including the famous Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest freestanding mountain, a huge dormant volcanic crater, as well as beautiful islands and coastal resorts with excellent diving.

It is anticipated that a large international fleet will compete in two fleets (spinnaker and non-spinnaker) on the same courses in the bay event consisting of up to 16 races. Those doing the Zanzibar Raid will race over four days (one of which will be a rest day on Zanzibar) with five legs to be sailed.

Charter boats will be available
