And again, Cesenatico hosted the Vele di Pasqua Regatta for the 48th time.
If two years ago, for the first time, there were only 6 participants with the #HobieCat14, this year there were 12 boats with few last-minute dropouts that reduced the number of participants.
Despite this, the event was a great success, thanks also to the hard work of Andrea and Daniele, who have been instrumental in growing the fleet in Romagna, including a new group of Under18 sailors.
The weather conditions were challenging, with strong winds and waves. On Saturday, the race was cancelled due to a storm warning. On Sunday, winds reached 15-18 knots with waves of 1-1.5 meters, while on Monday, the wind shifted to the south and increased to 22-25 knots, with waves of 1.5-2 meters from the southeast. These demanding conditions made for a selective race, with only the most experienced sailors able to complete the course.
Despite the challenging weather, the onshore organisation was excellent as always. When the wind prevented teams from sailing, they enjoyed delicious meals of pasta and cuttlefish. And when the wind allowed the race, the celebrations were based on piada or pizza after the regatta.
A big thank you to the Congrega Velisti Cesenatico for another great event! Sailors can’t wait to come back next year with even more sailors.
The next national regatta will be held at Lake Bracciano on May 4-5 at the Yacht Club Bracciano Est with not only Hobie Cat 14, but also Hobie Cat 16 with Spi and Hobie Dragoon.
