The Danish Hobie 16 Regatta SailExtreme was a successful event again this year. The competition was hosted by Kerteminde Sejlklub, where the world’s best national/international Hobie 16 sailors participated.
The fast fleet had a very intense competition on the water, and the competition’s winner wasn’t found until the last race was sailed.
Day 1: The first day of the competition was sailed in very light conditions, making it favorable for the lightweight teams, but with a weight spread from 135-163 kilos, the fleet was still very competitive.
No one that day got anywhere near the trapeze.
Day 2: The results were mixed, apart from the two Bjørnholt brothers who competed for the 1st and 2nd place.
The second day brought a bit more wind, which made the trapezes a bit more usable for the lighter teams.
The competition was won by Nicolaj Bjørnholt and Thomas Faurbye closely followed by Daniel Bjønholt and Lærke Gyllenborg.
In the 3rd place were Nicklas Heide and Oliver Bloch, with a fighting weight of 163 kilos. Impressively, they used the trapeze twice on the second day of racing.
